It all began when Aydan's mother, a elementary school teacher, asked Aydan to come into her class to speak about island speciation in 2009. Aydan had the thought to use Pokemon to teach the topic. It was an instant success. One thing led to another, and soon Aydan was bringing her pop culture-meets-science presentations to schools, libraries, and conventions all across the country.
